AIA Philadelphia Recognizes Dilworth Park, Matchbox

waterproofing expertise - Center City Dilworth Park

We are pleased to announce that CVM was a member of two different award-winning project teams at last night’s AIA Philadelphia 2015 Design Awards Celebration:

Alongside KieranTimberlake, Urban Engineers, and OLIN, CVM was presented with the Gold Medal for the re-design of Dilworth Park in Philadelphia. As structural engineer and waterproofing consultant, CVM provided design and construction phase support and technical expertise for this complex undertaking, which transformed a previously derelict underground plaza into a bright, dynamic public space in the heart of the city.

The Matchbox project team, including DIGSAU and CVM, was also lauded, receiving two awards. Located on the campus of Swarthmore College, this 22,000 SF health and fitness facility earned an Honor Award in the “Built” Category, as well as the Divine Detail Award for its dramatic reclaimed stone wall. CVM provided structural engineering consulting, and was instrumental in designing a foundation that would utilize elements from a squash court building that once occupied the site.

Held annually,  the Design Awards Celebration salutes the Philadelphia AIA community’s achievements, and this year included Honor Awards for Mayor Michael Nutter and Deputy Mayor Alan Greenberger. CVM was a sponsor of the event, and we are proud to continue our support of architecture in Philadelphia. Congratulations to all of the award-winners.
