University of Pennsylvania, Franklin Field

CVM is leading an engineering and preservation program to restore the reinforced concrete grandstands of the University of Pennsylvania’s Franklin Field, one of the nation’s oldest collegiate football stadiums. Designed by Charles Klauder and built in 1922, corrosion of reinforcing steel and long-term exposure have caused significant degradation to the grandstands. Incorporating cathodic protection to extend the service life of repairs, the multi-year, phased program will not interfere with the many campus events held at this iconic facility.
