Harvard University has performed significant renovations to a number of their historic River Houses, resulting in an improved residence life experience. In two of the River Houses, new and existing areaways required deep foundation support to achieve compatible settlement control with buildings originally built on deep foundation systems. CVM addressed this by installing helical screw anchors under the corners of the areaways. This solution provided an economic benefit, and was also appropriate for the relatively light loads of the areaways.
