Residential Tower, Shoring

During a routine renovation of interior finishes, the owner of this high-rise discovered significant cracks in four transfer girders that support 30 stories of apartments above. The girders were approximately 100 feet above street level in a large atrium space, with an underground parking structure below, making traditional shoring to ground impractical.

As part of a multi-faceted team, CVM developed a strategy to shore the existing transfer girders and work with a rigging contractor to jack the girders up from the temporary trusses and place them in their correct position to undergo repairs.
