Morse and Ezra Stiles Colleges were unpopular with residents and in need of renovations to accommodate modern student life. A study identified several key areas in which the Morse and Stiles lagged behind Yale’s other residential colleges, resulting in a 260,000 SF renovation and 25,000 SF addition.
CVM’s structural solutions focused on the architect’s intention of preserving the initial design and expanding the building in unique ways. A wooden deck looks over a waterfall in front of the below-grade dining entry way, while subterranean additions are lit using newly installed lightwells.
