As part of Harvard University’s River House Renewal Program, CVM is serving as the building envelope, preservation and structural engineering consultants for the restoration and expansion of Winthrop House. One aspect of this project is the restoration of Plympton House, a small, 18th-century colonial structure adjacent to Winthrop that is in such disrepair that the foundation needs to be replaced. To facilitate that, the building was lifted and rolled off of its current foundation and temporarily placed atop part of the new building wing as seen in this video caught by team leader, architect Beyer Blinder Belle. It will be rolled back atop a new foundation in several months. The entire project is expected to be completed in 2018 and continues to roll along smoothly.
