CVM is leading an engineering and preservation program to restore the reinforced concrete grandstands of the University of Pennsylvania’s Franklin Field, one of the nation’s oldest collegiate football stadiums. Reinforcing steel corrosion and long-term exposure have caused significant degradation to the grandstands, and a phased, multi-year program designed to address these issues began in 2016. The initial phase addressed the north grandstand and was completed in October, incorporating cathodic protection to extend the service life of repairs.
