Designed by Frank Furness and dating from 1876, the Historic Landmark Building is a Philadelphia cultural landmark. To support an ongoing building envelope and facade restoration program, CVM diagnosed envelope regions affected most by air and moisture infiltration, identifying specific envelope components that required short-term intervention.
Transient Heat and Moisture Transport Analysis and infrared thermography informed our broader analysis and the eventual design of protective measures that could withstand humidification of the art galleries. In order to comply with city standards for historic buildings, these solutions were first rigorously reviewed by the Philadelphia Historical Commission.
