The unexpected partial failure of a mezzanine floor caused an immediate suspension of service in a package processing facility. CVM led the installation of emergency shoring, and the facility reopened in 48 hours.
Subsequent investigation included non-destructive weld testing, sampling and laboratory testing to determine the cause of the failure and to support repair analysis. Permanent repairs included removal of distorted chord members, jacking the floor and truss back into the original position and replacing chord members.
